Flint Group has launched a single-component primer that provides strong adhesion of nitrocellulose-based inks printed on metallized polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and oriented polypropylene film (OPP).
The primer does not require the use of a cross-linker and offers benefits such as ease of use and reuse of press leftovers.
PreCoat FMET P13 AE is also suitable for printing on AlOx coated PET providing the necessary thermal resistance and bond strength required for high-performance packaging.
Flint Group Packaging and Narrow Web Division in the EMEA region have developed this innovative primer specifically for the flexible packaging industry.
The primer does not require the use of isocyanate or any other cross-linker and is free of PVC or PVDC polymers. Showing high block resistance, it can be used with full web coverage avoiding on-register printing.
“PreCoat FMET P13 can be overprinted with a variety of ink series which increases their application range,” says Dr Matthias Henker, Director Research and Development Flexible Packaging EMEA.
“As a purely one-component product, the primer supports improved overall equipment efficiency and waste reduction.”
The primer is available for all EMEA flexible packaging converters who are printing on metallized films and AlOx coated PET materials.
