Norwegian food brand TINE, its subsidiary Fjordland and design agency EGGS, were presented with Award for Design Excellence by The Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture.
The pack, produced by RPC Superfos and whose introduction by TINE has seen a 65% increase in sales of the company’s spreadable butter and margarine products, was described by the award jury as “an impressive achievement”.
It was praised for meeting “all requirements for overall design”.
For example, the pack’s lid has an ergonomic tab for ease of opening, and the same lid is used for all product varieties for efficient production with only a few changeovers.
The pack no longer consists of cardboard, aluminum and plastic but is made from 100% recyclable plastic material, which simplifies the recycling process.
The injection molded polypropylene tub is a thin wall pack with a protective light barrier, which safeguards the butter or margarine from the damage that light exposure can cause to flavor and vitamin content.
