More than 2,000 employees representing 77 member companies, including Cargill and CP Kelco, of the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (AmCham) gave back to Singapore through AmCham’s Corporate Community Day (CCD) on October 17, 2015.
Bringing to life their belief in the importance of corporate and societal excellence, the participating organizations hope to make positive and lasting impacts on the communities in which they work and live.
The 2015 CCD activities will benefit more than 8,000 Singaporeans.
The US Embassy Singapore will partner with AmCham to participate in numerous CCD events on that day, which include food distribution, tree planting, and several activities with children and the elderly.
“As we approach the 50th anniversary of US-Singapore relations, I am thrilled to once again join our American business community members in Singapore to participate in coordinated community service events all across Singapore,” said US Ambassador to Singapore Kirk Wagar.
“Our Embassy team is proud to be working alongside the American Chamber of Commerce and all of our corporate partners to serve Singapore in little ways that, added together, can make a difference in improving people’s lives.”
The AmCham is an international business association in Singapore, with over 5,000 members representing more than 750 companies.
Every year, in cooperation with the US Embassy Singapore, AmCham organizes CCD, which is designed to raise awareness about the importance of volunteerism.
Through this initiative AmCham encourages its members to volunteer for a variety of causes around Singapore, all on the same day.
This event encourages American organizations and their employees to build stronger ties with the Singapore community and to continue to volunteer with their company’s chosen charity throughout the year.
