Americas: Markem-Imaje’s white ink for coding glass bottles

Markem-Imaje launches a white ink aimed for the beer, cola and fruit juice sectors.

MW470 is legible, resistant and washable for coding non-returnable and returnable dark glass bottles.

Its opacity delivers the contrast required for legibility of codes printed on amber and colored glass bottles.

The white color blends with the bottle decors, unlike the blue and yellow colors traditionally used.

The ink can adhere to glass and yet it can be easily removed in washers using low soda concentrations.

This means manufacturers can enjoy savings in terms of soda and wastewater treatment requirements.

The ink is resistant to pasteurization and it can code returnable bottles that have undergone scratch prevention treatments such as Tegoglas and Opticoat.

Besides glass, the ink can be used on PET bottles, aluminium cans, metal and PE drums, bottle racks, removable films and cardboard packs.

When used with Markem-Imaje’s 9450S inkjet printer, the MW470 can withstand the significant pressures of the sector, particularly in terms of speed, with up to 120,000 products coded per hour.
