Europe: Tate & Lyle expands maltodextrin plant

Tate & Lyle plans to more than double capacity of its non-GMO Maltosweet Maltodextrin product line at its facility in Boleraz, Slovakia.

This major expansion of food grade and infant food grade ingredient facility is expected to be completed in 2019.

Maltosweet Maltodextrin is a nutritive corn-based specialty sweetener made from locally sourced non-GMO dent and waxy corn starch.

It is available in powder and granular formats.

The ingredient acts as a binder, viscosity provider, fat replacer and bulking agent.

It is used in products such as infant formula, sports drinks, dairy desserts and sauces.

“This expansion will enable us to meet growing customer demand for non-GMO maltodextrins, and particularly in the infant food sector for regions such as Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific,” says Joan Braca, President, specialty food ingredients.
