Asia Pacific: Germany brings wine show to Singapore

Messe Düsseldorf Asia and Singapore Exhibition Services debuts ProWine ASIA 2016, which runs alongside Food&HotelAsia2016 (FHA2016) in Singapore till April 15, 2016.

Modeled after the globally recognized wines and spirits trade fair, 20-year old ProWein in Düsseldorf, Germany, ProWine ASIA is the newest addition to ProWein World series, following the success of ProWine China.

There are more than 250 established wineries and distributors from 30 countries displaying international wine and spirit labels.

Participating exhibitors include Advini, Angus Dundee Distillers, Boutinot, Calabria Family Wines, Chateau Condamine Bertrand, Champagne Taittinger, Cognac Guy Lheraud, Guia Peñín, Makoto-Ya and Vinovalie.

There are also 15 national group pavilions from 11 countries – Australia, Austria, Canada, Chile, France, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa and Spain.

In addition, visitors could attend a series of masterclasses and seminars to gain deeper market and product insights.

These include an introductory session to The Institute of Masters of Wine and Master of Wine Study Programme led by Singapore’s Master of Wine Tan Ying Hsien, a Sake Basics & Beyond masterclass, and Italian Wine seminars.

The Champagne Lounge, a unique concept that has been part of ProWein since 2013, features a dedicated area with nine champagne houses and an on-site oenologist who will lead visitors on a tasteful tour of the Champagne region as well as provide professional advice on selecting champagnes.

Besides getting a clear and structured view of champagnes, the lounge spotlights the heritage and expertise of champagne houses and provides visitors an avenue to taste and discover different types of champagne.

Participating champagne producers include Angel Champagne, Champagne Cattier France and Pierre Champagne Mignon.
