World: agrofood West Africa 2015 to show market potential in region

With increasing imports of machinery and equipment to Ghana and West Africa, German trade show specialists fairtrade will organize agrofood West Africa 2015 from December 1 to 3.

This is the third edition of the International Trade Show on Agriculture, Food, Beverage & Packaging Technology and Food, Beverages & Hospitality.

Top brands and national pavilions from China, France and India are to profit from this professional platform for Ghana and West Africa.

According to GTAI – Germany Trade & Invest and VDMA, imports of food processing and packaging machinery and equipment to Ghana have been increasing with a compound annual growth rate of 16.5% over the past five years.

Investments were mainly made by producers of alcoholic beverages, such as SABMiller, Guiness-Breweries in Accra, Kasapreko and Distell from South Africa.

There is market potential in the cultivation of fresh vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers) in greenhouses for local supermarkets, large farms for yams, rice, cassava and maize, as well as tropical fruits for European supermarkets.
