Americas: Local produce company to supply to four Walmart distribution centers

Urban agricultural company Edible Garden expands its line of naturally grown living produce to four Walmart distribution centers located in the Northeast and Midwest of the US, after a successful trial run from June 2014.

Each distribution center services approximately 75 retail stores.

“This is a major accomplishment for our brand and a huge vote of confidence in our abilities to service additional distribution centers throughout the country,” says Derek Peterson, CEO Terra Tech Corp, whose subsidiary company is Edible Garden.

“We are pleased that retailers like Walmart are supporting local farmers, helping create local jobs, and investing in their local communities.”

The company anticipates the first orders will be shipped to the new distribution centers by late May.

Edible Garden recently achieved organic certification and is in the process of developing additional products to market through both new and existing sales channels.

Edible Garden is actively pursuing additional retail partners to fill out their new five-acre facility as well as the facilities of their cultivation partners in Florida and the Midwest.

In addition, it has been experimenting with new produce in an effort to broaden their offerings to both current and potential retail partners.
