UK-based TRM Packaging and Flint Group have opened a new color laboratory to provide companies with complete integrated color management services, as well as quality and process reporting software.
The laboratory at TRM’s Burscough site includes a £3.2 million (US$5.0 million) Gopfert Impression printer and a £1 million upgrade to the company’s corrugator.
“The new facility will allow TRM’s qualified technicians to produce high specification digital print swatches and conduct assessments of inks, technical mediums and varnishes in house, which will reduce lead times associated with the process,” says TRM Print development manager James Jolley.
“It sits alongside the business’ structural lab and enhances our product testing capabilities to ensure that the packaging we manufacture not only meets but also exceeds our customer requirements.”
TRM has worked with Flint Group since 2008 and the investment and installation of the color laboratory is part of a new five-year partnership.
The laboratory connects the packaging manufacturer directly with Flint Groups European Colour Centre in Lodz, Poland.
