Europe: Amcor wins award for climate change efforts

Amcor has won the Climate Disclosure Award by global climate disclosure program CDP.

The company has won for its carbon measurement and management, climate change strategy, risk management processes and outcomes, and commitment to transparently reporting on its performance.

“We are delighted to accept the CDP Award that is testament to our ongoing commitment to transparent reporting and continually looking for new and better ways to reduce carbon emissions, waste to landfill and water use across our global operations,” says head of safety environment and sustainability David Clark.

Through its global EnviroAction program that began in 2010/11, he says “the company has reduced greenhouse gas emission intensity by 19%; waste to landfill intensity by 53%; and water use intensity by 16%”.

“In addition, last year, more than 40 of our sites reported zero waste to landfill and all 180 sites reduced their waste contributing to a more sustainable environment.”
