Americas: Oystar Group to present packaging machines at Pack Expo 2014

The Oystar Group packaging machine manufacturer will present machines with manifold uses for the food and beverage industry at the Pack Expo 2014 in Chicago, Illinois, US from November 2-5, 2014.

The items on display cover the entire value added chain in the packaging process.

At the show, Oystar Gasti and Oystar Hamba will show their new M-FS 30, a filling and sealing (FS) machine for pre-formed cups.

The machine has a chainless drive system, which reduces maintenance costs because there is no need to replace the transport chain or carry out any of the adjustment work needed for chain stretch.

The automated format change takes less than 20 minutes, which significantly improves equipment availability for production and thus the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

This allows manufacturers to produce changing packaging format lucratively using this cup filler.

The FS machine on display at the show has been equipped with a new, fully automated change system.

During the format change, a mobile trolley storage unit is attached to the machine.

A handling device then removes a trolley from the machine and places it in the storage unit.

Later, a trolley with a new format is fed into the machine, which the procedure repeats over and over until all of the trolleys have been replaced.

The M-FS 30 can be equipped with up to three dosing systems.

Equipped with a single dosing system, the machine transports pre-formed cups with a fill volume of up to 600 ml and a cup height of up to 150 mm.

It can process up to 30,000 cups per hour.

The machine operates without lubricant and using optional ultra violet C disinfection for cups and lids makes it ideal for hygienic production applications.

FFS machine for portion packs

In addition, Oystar Hassia will present its THL 24/48 FFS machine for forming, filling and sealing (FFS) portion packs at the show.

The machine’s 24-fold format version and cycle speed of up to 30 strokes per minute enable it to produce 43,200 portion packs per hour.

The fill volumes can range from 21 g to 23 g.

The FFS machine is supplemented by an SPH 25/50-type cartoning machine.

In addition to transporting the packs, it can handle 1.5 punch cycles using two suction plates, which enables it to move six by six portion packs into two prepared cartons.

The pick and place movement is controlled by servo-motors.

After the exhibition, the FFS machine THL 24/48 will be delivered directly to the new owner.

The food manufacturer “Marzetti”, situated in Horse Cave, KY will put the machine into operation for packaging a comprehensive assortment of sauces.
