Americas: Crown opens 5th plant in Brazil to meet demand

Crown Embalagens Metálicas da Amazônia S.A. (Crown Brazil) has opened a new production facility in Teresina, the state capital of Piauí in the northeastern part of Brazil.

Established to provide more efficient support to customers in the region, the Teresina plant will have an initial annual production capacity of one billion beverage cans, with the ability to expand volume in the future.

The company in Brazil is a joint venture between Crown Holdings and Évora of Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Operational as of April 28, 2014, the new plant has the capacity to produce all seven sizes currently available from Crown in Brazil: 269 ml, 310 ml, 355 ml and 425 ml sleek style cans and 355 ml, 473 ml and 550 ml standard cans.

With this range of sizes, Crown Brazil says it offers the largest beverage can portfolio to brands in the country.

The new plant will support and supply brands in the immediate local region, and it can support Crown’s customers in other parts of the country if necessary.

With the addition of Teresina, Crown Brazil operates a total of five plants across the country.

Other production facilities are located in Cabreúva (São Paulo), Estância (Sergipe), Manaus (Amazonas) and Ponta Grossa (Paraná).
